Rev. Margaret Downer-Messias has been serving in the position of Director of Practicum, Professional Development and Policy since April 1, 2021. She has served as a Lecturer in the Religious Education Department, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Professional Studies Department from September 2007-March 31, 2021.

She has served as chairperson for the Religious Education Board of Studies during the development of the four-year degree programme. Rev. Messias has served as an Accreditation Officer for the University Council of Jamaica and currently serves as an Assistant Examiner for the Caribbean Examination Council. She is an ordained minister in the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.

Rev. Messias is currently a Ph.D. candidate of the University of the West Indies.
