Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced people to fill the position of Lecturer in French. The position is full-time:
The successful candidate should:
- have a master’s degree in foreign Language Education with an emphasis in French (Spanish would be an asset)
- be able to incorporate modern pedagogical methodologies in the teaching of French as a foreign language
- have teaching experience at the tertiary level or at least five (5) years’ teaching experience at the secondary level
- be a competent user of technology for teaching and learning
- be able to conduct and supervise action research, especially issues related to the teaching of French/Spanish as a second language
- be a highly motivated, goal and team team-oriented, committed professional
- have leadership skills with a clear vision of how to achieve and maintain excellence in teacher preparation, in accordance with the Certification Regulations of the Teachers’ Colleges of Jamaica and the policies of the Ministry of Education
- be competent in planning, organizing and executing activities which may require the lecturer to travel overseas
- possess at least a B2 level in DELF according to the Common Framework of European languages
- have some experience living/travel in French/ Spanish speaking countries (not a necessity but an advantage)
